Metadata are information that are meant to describe the informative resources contained in data, in order to improve their visibility and accessibility in a reference system. Since data processing is one of the main features of Citizen Science projects, it is considered appropriate to allocate a learning scenario for students to thoroughly understand the link between information, data and metadata.
In this learning scenario students will understand the main functions of metadata: localization and search, which can be used to index documents in an archive.
